Cure is found for skin cancer, claim scientists

Just heard on the Wall Street Morning Report radio show that scientists in the UK believe they have found the cure for skin cancer. 

There has been a breakthrough in the research through the development of a vaccine to treat melanoma. 

Melanoma is the most common cancer among ages 15 - 34.   

The vaccine attacks the tumor cells and boosts the body's response to fighting the cancer.

"A study of 50 patients with advanced melanoma who had been given no more than nine months to live found that 16 per cent of them recovered completely with the vaccine. They have been disease-free for more than four years.

Another 28 per cent saw the size of their tumours more than halved."

Scientists expect the vaccine to reach the marketplace within 5 years.
